2019 AASFBT Conference a huge success

3 and a half very full days, leaving delegates "tired but inspired!"

The 5th AASFBT Conference was held at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, and the unanimous feedback is that it was the best conference EVER! There was just so much variety - an opening full-day workshop with Ben Furman (from Finland), a trip to Rapaki Marae for a powhiri, cultural workshop, and lunch, a trip to Benny's Barber Shop for a practical workshop, an outdoor workshop at the Botanic Gardens, plus a whole lot of variety with small group workshops and large group presentations. In addition there were 2 evening presentations that were open to the general public.

On Thursday night David co-presented with Emma Burns (NZ Police) on the use of SFBT in suicide prevention. 65 people attended, many of whom were not actually there for the conference. The audience included police, psychiatrists, NGO workers, counsellors, and students.

It was an honor to have our international guests Ben Furman, and Jaseem Koornakot - both REALLY nice guys, both an amazing wealth of knowledge, both inspiring.

Planning is already under way for the 2020 Conference in Sydney. Details can be found on the AASFBT website.
